The Endbringer's Thoughts | Over The Edge Could Change the WWF Forever |
Hey folks. This column's been a long time in the making, so here we go.
I honestly believe Over The Edge could change the WWF forever as we know it. Why do you ask that? Well,
aside from it being the first time ever that an In Your House PPV has the same name twice in a row (last year's
May IYH was also named Over The Edge), if the WWF plays its cards right, life could be very interesting in
the wWF for the next few months.
The main event. Austin vs. Taker. It's been done before, but never like this. There are many ways this match
could suck, but more ways that it could be a very good match. I have wanted to see Austin flirt with a heel
turn, and now could be the day. With Vince McMahon now involved, it would only take a Union interference
for Austin to clean out the good guys and flip off the crowd. Also, if the Undertaker were to win the title belt,
and save us from another Austin main event (AAAAAAAAH!!!!) it could set up an interesting feud with The
Rock, and have someone else feud with Austin, away from the title picture.
The Rock vs. HHH. As much as Rocky is over, when's the last time he put out a couple good lines? For the
love of God, turn him heel again. As for HHH, I am very impressed with his main event push, but the best
technical wrestler in the WWF??? I don't think so. Nevertheless, another repeat match with totally new
ramifications could change things around huge, by having HHH take a clean win and earn a shot at Austin for
the belt.
The 8 Man Tag. To me, The Union was just an excuse to collect a bunch of loose guys together, because a
bunch of singles wrestlers all in the main event where no one knows who's on who's side would be so WCW.
It gives guys like HHH the push they deserve, and while it does take a little away from Paul Wight, gives Test,
Shamrock and even Mankind some spotlight without having to do too much. This is especially true in
Mankind's case, who was going nowhere feuding with The Big Show, same goes for Shamrock and Test. It
sure gives the Corporate Ministry a match where anyone of the Ministry's members who wouldn't deserve a
singles match with any of The Union a chance to have a big ol' slobberknocker.
The Tag Title Match could be could if X-Pac and Kane lose, because I'd like to see some new champs, and
have X-Pac sort out DX sans Kane. It will leave Kane out of the picture a bit, but they can stick him anywhere,
give him that whole destroying everyone and everything deal instead of trying to show some human
emotions, which makes him look like a wuss.
Outlaw vs. Outlaw. Something will definitely change here, Billy Gunn alone really really blows. Someone will
change sides here, or they'll all form DX again, possibly with HBK again to resurrect them to near main event
status again, and hopefully make them the crazy pranksters they were before.
The mixed tag match seems odd. Does Val Venis like Nicole Bass or not? They can't find a place for the Big
Valbowski, he's jumped between feuds for a while but seems to have settled with Debra. Please let him get the
girl for a little while, and then have him dump her like he's done all the rest, cause that's when he's at his best.
Oh yeah, having Debra as the women's champ just sucks, but then again, when you've got all the other good
women wrestlers involved in a PMS angle, you don't have much of a choice except to make it a T&A belt.
Sable did it for months.
The Hardcore Title needs some damn life. Snow and Holly are getting borrrrring, and a friggin' deerhead isn't
gonna help. They need to pull out all the stops for this match, or risk burying another promising division.
This is the only 100% lock prediction I have coming up. The Blue Blazer WILL win the IC belt from the
Godfather. Why you ask? Well, the engineer of the Ho Train doesn't need a belt to stay on TV, and Owen Hart
needs a singles belt big time (he's won the tag belts like 6 times already, jeez) and for once I think this Blazer
gimmick can be really good.
So, my hopeful predictions are: (all titles on line change hands if challenger wins)
Undertaker, HHH, The Union, D-Lo & Henry, Roaddog, Val & Debra (read above if you're confused), Snow,
and the Blazer.
I hope I'm right, cause I can't stand any of the current champions right now, so shake things up a bit, and
people won't thumb their noses at little ol' In Your Houses anymore. Take my advice, WWF, or:
Rest In Peace,
The Endbringer
